Not what I expected at all.

When I heard the first 3 seconds I didn't have high hopes, but when it kicked it I changed my mind quite quickly :P Loved the style and the vibe the tune gave off as a whole, nice work there. THE END PWNED HARD! OH YEAH!

Structurewise - No complaints, kept me guessing the whole way through and the was something newat every interval where it would sort of break down and then come back in again. Love that! :D

Synths used went really well, just the lead was maybe a bit loud (but that's me, it's not a complaint). The eurogate thingy was good too :P

Drums were good, just didn't seem powerful enough, maybe raise the volume on them (snare mostly), as it seemed to be more in the background of the tune, so it seemed to have less drive overall. . Only thing I picked up on really.

Great work, what a way to start off the list :D

Thanks man!

I took your suggestion in the next song you might hear this week!
I did raise the drum levels in it :D

Wierd o.o

For the most part I really liked it. Had a wierd feel to it. There were just a few things I picked up on.

At times the audio would clip, so maybe turn the volume down on a few things?

Aand, there was sort of an arpgeggiated thing at the beginning, didn't really like that much. .

That's it really, it was odd - but I loved it!

My fave part was from ~2:24-2:51 I could loop that forever :D.

Ahh yea, you hit my inexperience right on the spot >.> One, I'm still totally lost on working with compressors and limiters, I'm mostly just turning each knob at random until it sounds decent. Most of my instruments are also coincidental and highly experimental. I still had difficulty manipulating that one arpeggiated thing into what I was going for. I'm glad you liked the part when things start lifting off, its also my favorite. Thanks for the helpful review :)

OMG!

YES! This is a tuuuuuuune! I love it all, great work there. I got whiplash by listening to this hehe, I headbanged too much.

Synths were awesome, and so was the contrasting sectioned - all seemed to flow very well. . Only thing I was unsure about was the drums came in first time, just seemed a bit random hehe - doesn't stop you from getting 10 though. Amazing stuff, /downloaded and iPod'd. I love you for making my morning so epic!

Lol glad you liked it :)

Umm.

This has quite a lot of potential, but in my opinion you have a lot of work to do.

You cracked up the filter resonance on the drums and that really ruined it for me, especially when the kick/snare rushes came in - Why is this?. . Deal with that sound issue please.

Your drum patterns were actually good, and with the right sounds you could do get some really good sounding patterns.

Vocal things were good, no complaints there :3.

Melodic section seemed all over the place for me, I heard three different synths that didn't seem to go togethr at all (Choir/Low saw synth/High saw synth). I'll say the notes from the high synth (lead saw) were actually really good (loved the bends and stuff) and would sound better with different background synths.

In terms of leveling, at multiple times throughout the song I heard the audio clip, and that doesn't make good listening. .

I love Drum&bass, and I can't get enough of crazy patterns and stuff (seeing as it's my fave kind of music), but I didn't really think this was quite up to standard. You have the basic elements down, it's just a case of now building on that. Maybe try and listen some 'Des Plaines by Venetian Snares' to get a jist of what I'm trying to put accross.

It was a good attempt, for me it needs a lot of work. I hope you improve this and wow me. I can see my review is a lot harsher than the other club memebers, so maybe I'm just being extra picky seeing as 99% of what I listen to is D&B xD. If you don't get some of what I said, please feel free to PM me, I'd be happy to go over things with you :].

thanks man, and yes your review is harsher than the others, but thats nice, it will help me improve.

O__O

Amzing stuff you have there, I loved it. . I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff, and you reeled me in nicely. Stuff like this makes me happy inside (yes I'm crazy).

Loved the chord progressions with the variations, overall melodies - it flowed excelently. . I seem to have heard something like a string instrument in the background - excelent touch :D. By the way did I say it was awesome?! :D

Only thing I'll say is before ~1:16, maybe lower the velocity of the higher notes just to maybe give it a bigger build up feel. That's not a complaint, it's just a simple suggestion hehehe.

Oh ya, I just faved this song. 10 OUT OF 10! <3. Thanks for sharing this.

Jabicho responds:

Hey there! ahaha thanks for listening and saying it's awesome! :D
I checked the part at 1:16, and got the idea you're aiming for I think it could help a lot, since the speed just keeps the same before the ttransition maybe lowering it could make the coming part sound better.
Thanks for the score too and the fav'd! =)

Had it's good points.

Overall I found it okay, and I can see this having potential. However there were things I picked up on.

That sytrusy piano chord seemed to just play over and over which for me got pretty repetitive. The progression was fine, just maybe variate them by making inversion of the Em7 and Dm7 to maybe stop it getting repetitive.

At around ~1:03, there was a stringish thing that came in. . The notes in my opinion don't go with the piano thing you have there (Em7 with F-Major and Dm7 with E-minor). I'd suggest changing the whole chord pattern altogether for that one section, as it just sounded a bit off to me (only my opinion, I might be just too picky)

Drums were okay, considering you were using the RealDrumKits pack from the FL stock sound, though in time you may want to change the sounds as I think they've been overused and aren't really the best range of sounds to use. Drum patterns were fine.

At ~2:06, I though the string section I heard before came in, sounded a whole lot better. I really liked this section, very ambient indeed and the extra instruments you added were really well put in my opinion. That was probably the best part of the song for me. . It's a shame the first bit didn't really measure up to it.

I'll say it's good, and it has a lot of potential to be something epic. Maybe use different instruments that aren't FL stock sounds so it gives it an edge and doesn't make it sound generic like a lot of the FL stuff you hear on here and in other places. Don't think this suits classical at all =P.

I hope you improve this more ^^, this could be something awesome :] PM me if any of my jive didn't make sense. .

Herdunculus responds:

Thanks for a nice, lengthy, in depth review. I will try to fix all the faults listed here, and will submit a newer version soon. I never thought this would get the kind of feedback it did. Thanks.

Pretty cool.

I liked what I heard, very atmospheric and I could certainly here it as a march (kind of that, choose your destiny or a Mortal Kombat thing).

Like the variation of sounds used. . Only thing I didn't like was the choir when it sort of pitchbended down at ~1:17. The bend felt really plastic (it didn't seem to fit in). Eveything else was nice.

In terms of effects, I think the reverb used on the percussion wasn't the best (if you did), it sounded like (to me) that it was being played in an assembly hall (sound didn't seem to bounce very far or something). .

One more thing, maybe add a few more instrument parts in (like tuned mallets or something) to give it more atmosphere. . I did like it, nice work.

Don't think this suits the classical genre in my opinion.

Ledge!

Great mix of styles, ambient but yet forceful. I don't think I've heard anything like this before.

Introduction was very interesting, and the the rest came in with a bang! Reminds me of something that Gorillaz would do, and in my opinion they're like very close to the top.

Choice of sounds/synths was awesome, very spaced out and the mix of soft and hard sounds as a mix was genius. I have no complaints, so I'm not gonna babble xD.

I've listened to this like 10 times already and I'm not bored of it. . I could see this in a game/TV show + a lot of places. Great work, you get a well deserved 10 :3.

callitsleep89 responds:

Wow, it's quite an honor to be compared to the Gorillaz, they're amazing. I hope to one day become as good as them, though I am fairly certain that's a pipe dream at best. Anyways, thanks for all the praise, thanks for the review, and thanks for listening!

Everything I hear from you I just want to download and play forever! No complaints once again, and you never seem to slip up (with the submissions I've heard). Romantic scene again or a hero saving scene, more than a crowning scene in my opinion. Free EP please :D! ! ! Not much else to say, thought it was awesome as always man. . Sorry I can't critisize it if that's what you wanted, I just cant :|.

Calamaistr responds:

Nah critisism isnt what i look for, the reason i upload my work is soley to share it.
Im not here like alot of people to try to become popular or attain some kind of ranking.

It gives me fullfilment when people like you come about and enjoy my work and only that.
Ofcourse i do take critisism in consideration everytime im in fruityloops again, like the panning on piano's is a good example.. if nobody had ever started about that i would still make unpanned piano pieces. :)

I dont understand what you mean with 'free EP' though. ;o

Oh and thanks ofcourse. :)
